NEW EPISODE IS OUT! LISTEN/WATCH NOW!

Hey,

One of the biggest problems I see in the detailing industry is how shop owners treat their leads after the first contact.

A lead comes in. You send the quote. Maybe you call once. They do not answer. You send a text. Nothing. And then that lead just sits there. You mentally write it off and move on to the next one.

I get it. You are busy. You have cars to work on. You have a business to run. Following up feels like begging. And nobody wants to be that shop owner who comes off as desperate or annoying.

Here is what I have learned after working with hundreds of shops over the past five years. That single belief is one of the most expensive things you will ever hold onto.

Let me paint the picture for you.

Say you get ten leads this month. You close two or three of them. Twenty to thirty percent. Feels normal, right? That is what most shops accept as reality.

But those seven or eight leads you did not close are not gone. They did not disappear. They are sitting there waiting for someone to follow up with them. And if you do not do it, someone else will.

Month two comes around. You get another ten leads. You close two or three again. But now you also have those seven or eight from last month still sitting there untouched. Month three hits. Now you have even more stacking up. Before you know it, you have dozens of people who raised their hand and said they were interested in your services, and you never gave them a real chance to say yes.

That is not a lead generation problem. That is a follow-up problem.

I worked with a shop owner in Florida named Roberto. Young guy. Early twenties. English is his second language. Two-person operation on most days. He was struggling to figure out where his next job was coming from.

We set up one recurring Google Calendar event. Every day at ten in the morning. One hour blocked for follow-up and marketing actions. No exceptions. No excuses. Just show up and do the work.

Last month his shop did fifty thousand dollars.

One calendar reminder. Thirty seconds to set up. And it changed his entire trajectory.

The people who opted into your service are not bothered by you following up. They raised their hand. They asked for information. They want to hear from you. The only thing stopping you from closing more of them is the story you are telling yourself about what follow-up means.

I think about this a lot. How many shop owners are one simple habit away from doubling their close rate? How many are sitting on a goldmine of warm leads and just letting them go cold because it feels uncomfortable to pick up the phone again?

Something to think about.

Talk soon,
